Open Position: Product Specialist

Location: Downers Grove, IL, USA

We seek a Product Specialist, preferably with experience in the building automation or HVAC industries, to join our Downers Grove, IL team. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package including vacation and paid holidays, 401 (k), and health, dental, life, disability insurance. This position is fulltime, onsite.

As Product Specialist, you will provide technical support for company products or services and promote company products at conferences, tradeshows and during visits to distributors, partners, and customers.

Essential Roles:

  1. Provide both hardware and software technical support of company products.
  2. Inform company about product performance and acceptance by customers.
  3. Create application notes, manuals, and other product documentation.
  4. Create promotional and training material on the company products for sales staff and customers.
  5. Author papers, press releases, articles and speak at conferences.
  6. Monitor product's revenue performance and competitive positioning.
  7. Create requirement specifications for product enhancements on new or existing products.
  8. Administer any product recalls, firmware upgrades, or product rollouts.
  9. Support technical relationships with partners.
  10. Provide product training for customers, headquarters, and subsidiary staff.
  11. Evaluate special customer requests for product applicability.
  12. Provide verification to specifications for both company and third-party products.
  13. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to ascertain market threats and opportunities.
  14. Must be able to travel on company business with overnight stays.

You will report to the Senior Product Manager and interact with sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and our subsidiaries. You will also interact with our distributors, partners, customers and trade press and our suppliers of company products.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. Two-year college degree or equivalent with emphasis on electronics technology.
  2. Two years of experience in electronics, building automation, and/or HVAC industries.
  3. Must have excellent communication and interactive skills.
  4. Must be a well-organized, responsible individual.
  5. Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  6. PC literacy including knowledge of Windows operating systems and networks.

Open Position: Buyer

Location: Downers Grove, IL, USA

Under supervision, performs various routine purchasing assignments. Based upon purchase requests, procures supplies, raw materials, outside services and equipment used by the company. Performs other job-related duties as determined and assigned by management.

Essential Role Responsibilities (with or without accommodation):

  1. Material planning which consists of determining the requirements of raw materials, components and other items needed for production and sales with pricing and lead time considerations.
  2. Receive approved purchase requisitions, select appropriate suppliers, place purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  3. Enter purchase orders, maintain inventory items and vendor information in MRP system.
  4. Participate with the manufacturing department in determining material requirements using MRP system.
  5. Maintain a good working knowledge of materials, components, processes and suppliers.
  6. Place orders for replenishment household, cafeteria and office items.
  7. Monitor and grade supplier delivery performance and adherence to quality guidelines.
  8. Recommend addition or deletion of suppliers.
  9. May participate on a site visit to a supplier in order to conduct a quality audit.
  10. Participate in Sales and Operation Planning meetings

Principal Working Relationships:

  1. Interface with all departments.
  2. Interacts frequently with manufacturing, engineering, and sales departments.
  3. Works closely with suppliers and customers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Two to three years of experience required, preferably in the electronics sector. Associates Degree in Business or the equivalent work experience preferred. Requires good communication and basic math skills.
  2. Familiarity with computerized accounting programs and word processing programs.
  3. Must exercise professional judgment and ingenuity.
  4. Must have excellent interpersonal skills as well as be organized and responsible and be a self-starter.
  5. Must be detail oriented and have a strict regard for confidentiality.
  6. Some related business experience preferred.
