The free BAScontrol Toolset can be downloaded after first registering. Included in this single install is the Sedona Applications Editor (SAE), BASbackup – Controller Project Utility, and BASemulator – Controller Emulation on a PC. Included with the download is the latest Sedona Component Bundle which includes all the core and custom kits including the kit for the macros. The BAScontrol Toolset and a web browser are all that is needed to commission a BAScontrol controller. For convenience in troubleshooting BACnet communication issues, the BACnet Discovery Tool (BDT) is also available by download.
The Sedona Applications Editor received several upgrades enhancing useability. SAEv2.0 can now support 4k monitors while speeding up the handling of larger wiresheets with much Sedona logic. Several changes were made to the Kit Manager while testing for native dependencies and missing kits. The Kit Manager allows for the addition, removal, and revisioning of kits. Highlighting link connections through folders have been improved as well as improvements in the global search function. New commands including UNDO have been added. These changes enhance the user experience.
Although you can save and restore your Sedona program with SAE, BASbackup can do as well plus save BACnet settings, and controller configurations. BASbackup can then do a full controller save and restore, or it could clone additional controllers using the same application program but with different BACnet Device Instances and IP addresses. BASbackup was tested to support the new controller models, and in most instances can assist in transferring applications between different model controllers.
The BASemulator has been upgraded to include the two new controllers allowing the user to experience the operation of these controllers before having received the new controllers. The BASemulator emulates the controller operation on a Windows PC. Using a drop-down menu, any controller model can be selected for emulation. The user can then interact with SAE and BASbackup in programming and testing the application program in anticipation of transferring the proven application to a real controller. Other than real input/output connectivity, the BASemulator faithfully represents a real controller.
With all the benefits of the updated BAScontrol Toolset, existing controller users and new users are encouraged to update to the latest toolset and to access the new Sedona pre-built applications that are now available.
