Enhance Your JACE by Off-Loading Communication Handling
Our latest video shows viewers how to off-load a JACE from serial data polling. While the JACE has the ability to poll BACnet MS/TP or Modbus RTU or ASCII data over its serial port, handling the overhead of serial protocols burdens the JACE's CPU. This results in increased CPU usage that could be used for other tasks such as trending, alarming, and web page-serving. This calls for the potential need to upgrade to a higher-powered, costlier JACE.
The JACE CPU usage can be decreased by off-loading the MS/TP token passing to external BACnet MS/TP to BACnet/IP routers. This is especially important if you require the JACE to be connected to multiple MS/TP networks. In a similar manner, Modbus serial traffic can be off-loaded by using a BASgatewayLX.
This video shows viewers how our BASrouter and BASgatewayLX provide the solution. The BASrouter offers stand-alone routing between BACnet networks such as BACnet/IP, BACnet Ethernet, and BACnet MS/TP - allowing the system integrator to mix BACnet network technologies within a single BACnet internetwork. BASgatewayLX allows each connected Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU/ASCII device to appear as an individual BACnet compliant device. (4:46)
